Back then, my hobby was writing and reciting poems, but I don’t do it as often anymore due to my busy schedule with assignments. I used to be deeply involved in it because I participated in numerous Poem Recitation Competitions, and by the grace of Allah, I had the privilege of experiencing the joy of winning.
This hobby not only enhanced my creativity in playing with words and expressing ideas in indirect yet meaningful ways, but it also played a huge role in shaping the person I am today. Through poetry, I learned how to articulate emotions, tell stories with depth, and see the beauty in language.
One of the biggest benefits of this hobby was how it helped build my confidence. Since I had to perform in front of large audiences, especially in school, I gradually became more comfortable with public speaking. Over time, I became less afraid of speaking in front of people. Although I still experience nervousness and stage fright at times, my past experiences in poetry recitation have refined my ability to manage those feelings and present myself well.
Beyond confidence, writing and reciting poems also improved my critical thinking and communication skills. It taught me how to structure my thoughts, convey messages effectively, and evoke emotions through words. These skills have proven valuable not only in competitions but also in my academic and professional life.
