Exploring the Working World: My Part-Time Story

I never actually planned to work part-time, but it all started during the COVID-19 pandemic when online classes had not yet fully begun. My aunt, who was a supervisor at One Stop Superstore, offered me a part-time position as a Sales Assistant at the store. Since I had nothing else to do at the time, I accepted the offer without much thought. It was my first-ever job and the first time I earned a salary. The tasks weren’t too difficult—I was responsible for arranging goods, restocking items, cleaning, placing price tags, and counting stock. I worked there for about three months, starting in December 2020, before leaving to focus on my SPM preparations. After STPM, I decided to work again to enhance my skills and ensure that my resume wouldn’t be empty in the work experience section. I came across a job advertisement for a Hotel Receptionist position at King Ing Hotel. Encouraged by the opportunity, I went for an interview with my friends. A few days later, during Friday prayers, I rece...

The Heart of My Life: My Family

I come from a family of eight, with six siblings—two brothers and four sisters. We have a close bond and enjoy spending time together. I only have grandparents from my father's side, as my maternal grandmother passed away in 2021, and my maternal grandfather passed away right after Minggu Apresiasi Watan in UKM, during my first class in the first semester. It was a difficult start to my university life, but having my family’s support helped me get through it. Family is very important to me, and I cherish every moment we spend together. We often go out for shopping, meals, and fun activities, and we also love traveling as a family. I enjoy these moments not only because they are precious to me, but also because I don’t have to spend my own money when we go out! My parents have always prioritized family time, and they make sure we create beautiful memories together.

The Faculty I Belong To

I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration , and my faculty is known by its slogan, "FEP Terkehadapan" . FEP stands for "Fakulti Ekonomi dan Pengurusan" (Faculty of Economics and Management) . This faculty offers four main programs: Economics Innovation and Entrepreneurship Accounting Business Administration My Experience at FEP FEP is a great faculty , and so far, I have attended lectures in Dewan Kuliah (Lecture Hall) 1, 2, 3, and 4 , but I haven't had the chance to experience Dewan Kuliah 5 yet. I have also visited the Bilik Prasiswazah (Undergraduate Room) once, as well as my mentor’s office , Dr. Kew Si Roei . However, I haven’t fully explored the faculty yet. Food & Facilities Whenever I feel hungry, I usually grab some snacks from PANAS , which is open 24 hours , or Budi Café . One of my favorite places in FEP is the surau . It’s comfortable and air-conditioned , making it a great place to rest and pray. What I Love About FEP The b...

Where I Grab My Meals at Uni

I stay at Kolej Aminuddin Baki (KAB) in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) . It’s a great place to live since it’s close to my faculty, the library, and PUSANIKA . However, when it comes to food, many students, including myself, have voiced concerns about the prices, taste, and limited choices available. A few months into my first semester , the college café shut down , which meant I had to find alternative places to eat. My Go-To Places for Food 1. Kolej Ungku Omar (KUO) – My Top Favorite One of my favorite places to grab a meal is Kolej Ungku Omar (KUO) . They start serving a variety of freshly cooked hot meals at 3 PM daily . My usual orders include Butter Chicken Rice and Paprik Chicken Rice , always paired with Ice Lemon Tea . During lunch hours , they offer dishes like Curry Chicken and a wide selection of traditional Malay dishes with white rice . In the mornings, they also serve roti canai , though I haven’t tried it yet. Apart from that, they have western food, burgers,...

My Most Visited Spots in University

At university, besides spending time at my faculty and other college cafés, one of the places I frequently visit is the library—Perpustakaan Tun Seri Lanang (PTSL). I go there whenever I need to stay focused and motivated during study sessions. Seeing so many students studying makes me feel guilty if I’m not being productive, which helps keep me on track. The library provides a conducive environment, not just for studying but also for completing assignments, group discussions, and even a quiet place to gather my thoughts. Sometimes, I like to sit by the windows to enjoy the view while studying, as it helps me feel more relaxed. I also often visit PUSANIKA to buy groceries at 99 Speedmart. While there, I usually grab a drink from Zus Coffee or TeaLive to refresh myself before heading back to my college or faculty. PUSANIKA is also a convenient place to run errands, whether it’s getting stationery, printing documents, or just taking a short break in between my schedule. Every Friday, t...

Stepping into University Life: Majlis Apresiasi Watan

Majlis Apresiasi Watan (MAW) is the official orientation week for UKM students, and it was filled with memorable experiences. Here are some of the highlights: Throughout MAW, there were numerous activities that I truly enjoyed. On the first day, we were introduced to the organizational structure of our college, Kolej Aminuddin Baki (KAB) . We also learned several cheers that we would use during Perang Dectar , including: "Aminnn cuak tak? Cuak, cuak, cuak, tak cuak, tak cuak. Takut, takut, takut, tak takut, tak takut. Gentar, gentar, tak gentar, tak gentar. Amin tak cuak, Amin tak takut, Amin tak gentar! Hu ha hu haha singkalasi kasi kasi, singkalasi kasi, Amin, Aminuddin Baki!" One of the special moments during MAW was the visit from the Minister of Higher Education, Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir . We had the opportunity to listen to his inspiring journey and the challenges he overcame to reach where he is today. There was also a session with UKM alumni , wher...

More Than Just a Hobby: How It Shapes Me

Back then, my hobby was writing and reciting poems, but I don’t do it as often anymore due to my busy schedule with assignments. I used to be deeply involved in it because I participated in numerous Poem Recitation Competitions, and by the grace of Allah, I had the privilege of experiencing the joy of winning. This hobby not only enhanced my creativity in playing with words and expressing ideas in indirect yet meaningful ways, but it also played a huge role in shaping the person I am today. Through poetry, I learned how to articulate emotions, tell stories with depth, and see the beauty in language. One of the biggest benefits of this hobby was how it helped build my confidence. Since I had to perform in front of large audiences, especially in school, I gradually became more comfortable with public speaking. Over time, I became less afraid of speaking in front of people. Although I still experience nervousness and stage fright at times, my past experiences in poetry recitation have ref...

My Hobby Wishlist

One of the activities on my hobby wishlist is jungle trekking. I have a deep appreciation for nature, but I haven’t felt ready to start trekking yet since it requires good physical stamina (though I do have great stamina for walking in shopping malls!). However, I would love to challenge myself one day and experience the beauty of nature up close. I prefer jungle trekking locations with waterfalls, as it would be rewarding to take a refreshing swim after the uphill hike. The sound of flowing water, the cool mist in the air, and the peaceful surroundings make the journey even more exciting. Aside from jungle trekking, I would also love to try other outdoor and adventurous activities, such as snorkeling, camping, and hot air balloon rides. Snorkeling would allow me to explore the underwater world and see marine life up close, while camping would be a great way to disconnect from the busy world and enjoy a night under the stars. A hot air balloon ride, on the other hand, would be an unfor...

Smashing Through the Day: My Badminton Experience

Hi everyone, Today, I want to share how I usually spend my badminton sessions! I typically play with my Form 6 friends at the Badminton Court Majlis Daerah Dalat dan Mukah (MDDM) . We prefer playing on weekdays when we don’t have too much homework piling up. Most of the time, we play in pairs since singles can be quite exhausting. To make things more exciting, we always turn it into a mini-tournament , but in a fun and casual way—nothing too serious! After an intense game, we usually grab some food at our favorite spots or, if we’re in the mood to relax, head straight to Pantai Kala Dana Mukah to enjoy the beach vibes. Badminton isn’t just a sport for us—it’s a way to stay active, bond with friends, and de-stress from studies . What’s your go-to activity to unwind? Let me know!

Milestones from My School Years: Achievement

I have achieved several milestones in both academics and extracurricular activities. Competition Achievements In Year 5 , I secured Second Place in the Anugerah Tokoh Nilam Sarawak at the state level , which was a significant recognition of my reading and literary skills. Throughout secondary school , I actively participated in poem recitation competitions at the school, district, and state levels , further honing my public speaking and performance abilities. One of my most notable achievements was winning Third Place in the Kreasi Lagu Berpantun International Level Competition . This online competition required my team to create and compose a song from pantun (traditional Malay poetry) , which was both a challenging and enriching experience. Memorable Moments A particularly unforgettable milestone was in 2023 , when I had the honor of reciting a poem in front of the Chief Minister of Sarawak and the current Tuan Yang Terutama Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak (who was then the ...

My Education Journey

21 years of life have been quite challenging, especially in academics. I don’t come from a high-level educational background, but with the encouragement and support of my parents, I am now pursuing my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with Honors at one of Malaysia’s top universities— National University of Malaysia (UKM) in Bangi, Selangor. Primary School: Where It All Began My educational journey started at SK Datuk Awang Udin, Mukah, Sarawak , where I attended pre-school and primary school from Year 1 to Year 6 . This was the place where I discovered my potential , particularly in leadership and talent development . I was appointed as Vice President of the School Prefects in Year 5 and served as Class Monitor for four consecutive years from Year 1 to Year 4 . Academically, I sat for the Ujian Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (UPSR) and achieved 2As and 4Bs . Honestly, it was a bit disappointing because I had scored 5As and 1B in my trial exams, but it was a learning exp...
